15 CityPlace, a new Class A office tower in West Palm Beach, Florida, is home to major tenants including ServiceNow and Cleveland Clinic, making long-term building performance especially critical.
One of the first stages of construction involved waterproofing below grade, which presents unique challenges in South Florida, such as high groundwater tables, hydrostatic pressure, salt exposure, frequent rainfall and seasonal flooding.
Because waterproofing systems are permanently buried, there is little room for error once installation is complete. As Milton Ramirez, Director of Preconstruction at SBR, explained, “Below-grade systems, you only have one chance, one time to do it right.”
To meet these demands, the team selected TREMproof® Amphibia™, a self-healing, self-sealing, hydro-reactive sheet-applied waterproofing membrane. The system combines a watertight EPDM layer with a dual super-expansive polymer core and active barrier technology to provide long-term protection against water intrusion.
Beyond its waterproofing performance, Amphibia also proved durable enough to withstand the demands of construction and is backed by a 20-year warranty, offering double the coverage of many competing systems.
