Testing

In-house assembly testing and data to support the design and construction of leak-free, long-lasting structures.

We work with professionals in construction, engineering and architecture to test building materials, fenestrations, insulating glass (IG) units and complete wall assemblies for air and water intrusion, thermal performance, fire resistance and durability under various environmental stressors.

We test beyond industry standards so architects, specifiers and owners can rest assured that their building enclosure systems will perform as expected.

Our Building Science Initiatives

We have several laboratory and research facilities where we build mock-ups and test critical connections to ensure a building envelope remains fire-resistant and air and watertight for the life of the structure. We can also assist with active jobsites and existing building testing.
Façade Fire Lab

At our Façade Fire Lab, we conduct fire testing to validate wall assemblies for fire resistance according to NFPA 285/ISMA, NFPA 268, ASTM E-119/ULCS-101 and CAN/ULC-S1234.

Insulating Glass Lab

To ensure long-lasting Insulating Glass Units (IGUs), our state-of-the-art research facility allows us to test IGU assemblies, evaluate component material performance and conduct forensic analysis of functional IGU systems.

Material Component Testing

Not sure what type of existing sealant or waterproofing technology is on your structure? Submit a sample to our R&D team to confirm the material composition and ensure compatibility with adjacent or overlapping building materials.

Test Wall

At our Building Science Laboratory, we test wall assemblies for air and water infiltration by spraying water and applying positive and negative air pressures to ASTM and AAMA standards and beyond.
