In 2021, the Pittsburgh International Airport broke ground on a massive modernization project to improve passenger experience with “facilities designed for the future”, which would include the construction of a new terminal and adjacent parking garage. As part of this airport addition, Tremco was specified for the air barrier membranes, sealants, waterproofing and drainage solutions to ensure a long-lasting and watertight building envelope.

Throughout 2023 and 2024, the subcontractor, Wyatt Construction, spray-applied over 300,000 sq ft of ExoAir® 230 air vapor barrier (AVB) to the exterior walls. The ExoAir 230LT (low temperature) was installed seamlessly for easier application during the cold weather months. Tremco's ExoAir® 110AT peel and stick air barrier membrane was used for the openings, and connections were detailed with Dymonic® 100 urethane sealant.

For the waterproofing, TREMproof® 250GC was the ideal solution. Jim Bistline, Project Manager and Estimator for CPS Construction Group said, “There is a plethora of products out there that you can use for this type of application. But this one in particular…is exceptionally easy to install. There's no fibers or anything that we have to trowel on. It's all roller grade. You put it on, you walk away.”
