Space at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin was tight, so plans for a new bedtower were underway. The owner wanted assurance that the building would last for 50 to 100 years, even under extreme conditions.

The building consisted of curtain wall with six-story spans along with projections and recessions in the wall and a continuous vapor barrier. Where the dissimilar materials of the curtain wall and various wall assemblies connect are areas of dynamic movement and areas where multiple installers normally become involved. Maintaining control at these intersections to avoid moisture infiltration and the potential for mold growth was paramount.
