Situated in the financial district of downtown Toronto, surrounded by Bay, Wellington, Yonge and Front Streets, is the magnificent BCE Place. This 2.6-million-square-foot, Toronto landmark is home to financial, commercial and legal firms, as well as the Hockey Hall of Fame.
When Bowie Contracting and Maxim Restoration were hired to re-caulk the podium deck granite pavers of BCE Place, they turned to Tremco to be the single-source sealant supplier. THC-900/901 was chosen for all of the horizontal applications. According to Craig Bowie, vice president of Bowie Contracting, no other products could beat THC-900/901 for this job because of THC-900/901’s proven track record, product availability, color availability, cost, durability and wear-resistance, its compatibility with the existing sealant, and the outstanding customer service from Tremco sales reps. To ensure appropriate product selection and performance, they conducted extensive adhesion and compatibility tests on-site and were available to ensure products were applied for optimal results.
Both contractors were looking for a sealant with a quick cure time to allow for minimum downtime. Dymeric® 240FC fit the bill and was selected by the engineering firm Halsall and Associates. The Tremco sales team provided all documentation necessary to support the product selection in less than 24 hours. After Dymeric 240FC was applied to the stairways, it had cured within three days and barricades were removed, ready for pedestrians.
