AIR LEAKAGE & WATER RESISTANCE
During testing, the CavityComplete™ Wall System for Steel Stud with Masonry Veneer was subjected to thousands of positive/negative pressure cycles simulating wind/structural/thermal movement stress testing of the durability of the air/water resistive barrier assembly. The system was tested in large scale simulations of both unpenetrated (opaque) and penetrated wall surfaces.
The Results: AIR LEAKAGE - ASTM E2357: After thousands of pressure loading cycles, the system had the air leakage rating of 0.0062 cfm/ft2 (measured at 75 pa (1.57 psf) well below the industry standard maximum of 0.04 cfm/ft2.
WATER RESISTANCE - ASTM E331: Not only did the specimen sustain no visible water penetration for 15 minutes at an air-pressure differential across the specimen of 2.86 psf (137 Pa) as prescribed by the test, the system went on to hold water tight until 00:53:26, at more than 2x the required pressure, 6.27 psf (300 Pa)
ADHESION & COMPATIBILITY
The CavityComplete™ Wall System includes layers of components either in intimate contact or adhered. For the long-term performance of the system it was necessary to test adhesion and compatibility between the adjacent layers to insure that the integrity of the layers and sealants is preserved.
ADHESION - ASTM C794-10: Samples were evaluated after allowing the sealant to cure for 14 days at room temperature. Samples were placed in the testing machine allowing the MortarNet® MPE-1 and ExoAir® TWF, to be pulled back at 180°. All components met or exceeded the required minimum 5pli and 80% cohesive failure (CF).
