Processes & Practices
|
|
Sustainability also encompasses our corporate obligations to the environment and the communities we serve. We are analyzing our business processes and
practices to determine ways to eliminate waste in product processing, reduce energy consumption and minimize any negative impact on our environment.
These obligations also include providing easily accessible information to assist those we deal with in complying with information required on LEED submittals
and assistance with the implementation of sustainable design.

-
LEED Documentation - A comprehensive listing of LEED letters addressing information on
Tremco products required for LEED submittals in an easy-to-follow format are readily accessible on the Tremco web site.
-
LEED Training - Key personnel are being dedicated to support our sustainability/green building strategy, with one of the only LEED-APs on staff in our
industry and other technical service personnel having gone through USGBC coursework. Assistance is provided to help respond to LEED requirements and guide
others on ways to achieve sustainable design. In select cases, training may be provided for key audiences. LEED and sustainable design training is also
conducted internally for our technical services group and sales representatives.
-
Water Conservation - Water for use in cooling and processing at our facilities has been reduced by nearly 75%. At our Toronto facility alone, water
usage is reduced by 19,000,000 gallons a year.
-
Waste Reduction - Recycling has been instituted at our corporate headquarters, reducing landfill-bound waste by approximately 40%, with an ultimate
goal of "zero waste" at all facilities within five years.
-
Increased Energy-Efficiency - The latest in high-efficiency bulbs are now being used in our lighting fixtures, sensor-activated lighting is being installed
and efforts are underway to ensure lighting is provided where it serves a functional purpose.
-
Transportation-Efficiency - Actions are being taken to reduce the number of small or partial shipments to customers, resulting in less carbon dioxide
and other greenhouse gas emissions. Car-pooling is also being encouraged where possible at all facilities.
